Women and Diabetes Event, New Canaan Connecticut


Join us and fellow women who deal with diabetes every day. We created this event to help women empower themselves and share how one can live one’s life as someone who has diabetes or is caring for someone with diabetes but is not defined by it.    

Our powerful and uplifting speakers for the day will be:

Karin Hehenberger, MD, Ph.D. Founder of Lyfebulb 

Diane Sheehan, APRN, Bridgeport Hospital

Liz Sacco – Creator of Diabetic Dabs and mother of child with diabetes

Stronger than Diabetes Panel speaking about Diabetes and Exercise

We will be serving a delicious catered lunch, participating in a GlucoseZone guided exercise session lead by Charles O’Connell, networking over cocktails, mocktails and cheese and everyone who attends will receive a free subscription to the GLUCOSEZONE app exercise guidance specifically designed for people with diabetes and a beautiful “Stronger Than Diabetes” T-shirt.

Wear comfortable exercise clothing and bring your glucometer. Water and snacks will be available throughout the day.

The Westport Woman’s Club announces that proposals are now being accepted for its annual $5,000 Ruegg Grant. Local non-profit organizations are invited to submit their grant requests for projects in a letter that will demonstrate making a continuing difference in our community.

This grant, established in 1995 by an endowment left to the club by former member Lea Ruegg, is given each year to deserving organizations in the arts, education endeavors, and health and safety-related areas. Past beneficiaries include Project Return, Earthplace, Wakeman Town Farm, and the Westport-Weston YMCA.
Community Groups with impactful and meaningful projects for this year should submit their proposal letters by February 28, 2017 to the Westport Woman’s Club Ruegg Grant Committee, 44 Imperial Avenue, Westport, CT 06880.

The Westport Woman's Club is offering a Schlolarship to an outstanding woman enrolled in a post-secondary educational program. The award will be based on financial need and applicant goals upon program completion. Applications are due by April 10, 2017.
