Once again on Father’s Day Weekend, “kids of all
ages” will gather at the Westport Woman’s Club, 44 Imperial Avenue, to enjoy
one of the town’s oldest and best-loved family events, The Westport Woman’s
Club’s Yankee Doodle Fair. This year
Westport’s last remaining annual family Fair opens Thursday, June 14, 6 PM to
10 PM and continues Friday, 6 PM to 10 PM, Saturday, 1 PM to 10 PM and Sunday,
1 PM to 5 PM.
Says WWC President, Dorothy Packer, “For over 111 years, the Westport Woman’s Club has been raising funds for local needs. We started by building sidewalks on Main Street and through the years, we have brought about the development of Compo Beach and created hot meals and healthcare for our schools. The Fair is our largest fundraiser. Its proceeds support our grants to community service agencies, need-based scholarship for Staples students and the much-needed Food Closet for the Town of Westport.”
The Yankee Doodle Fair will once again feature carnival rides and games from Stewart Amusements. Returning are the ever-popular Ferris Wheel, Flying Dumbo, Kiddie Cars, Basketball Toss, Rope Ladders, Carousel and Everybody-Wins-Fishing, along with a new updated spectacular version of the Ali Baba and breath-taking Zero Gravity, among others. Pay one price unlimited rides wristbands will be available all the days of the Fair, including Friday and Saturday nights! At the Westport Woman’s Club’s Face Painting booth, kids of all ages can choose fun or “fierce” designs and Sand Art is back for younger children.
In the air-conditioned Auditorium, our Gourmet Group will hold their highly-anticipated Bake Sale featuring home-made baked goods sure to please every taste! Enjoy a cup of coffee or a cold drink while you make your selections or browse through our Yankee Doodle Fair Cookbook (available for $5)
